Oxford: Where Imagination Runs Wild
Today we traveled over to oxford where we
got a tour of the beautiful campus! Many well-known stories were inspired by
Christ Church college, which is one of the 82 colleges that make up Oxford.
Lewis Carroll, the author of Alice in Wonderland, went to Christ Church. We
learned that Alice’s adventures were based off his time at the college where he
became friends with Alice, the dean’s daughter. It is also said that the rabbit
was based off her father. It was interesting to see all the connections between
the story and the college. Going through this college we noticed how much
history and depth this establishment had which left us amazed. Along with
unraveling the history of Alice, we got to see places where Harry Potter was
filmed.
We got to see the filming sight for when the first-year students are led
by Professor McGonagall into the great hall where they would be sorted into
their clubs. It was so cool to be on the site where the movies were filmed.
These experiences let us take a peek into the minds of some of the most beloved
authors of our childhoods, leading us to embrace the imagination and diligence
between the walls.
